Our Visit with Michele Longo O'Donnell

Tomas, Rikki, our dear friend Sparo and I have just returned from an incredibly inspiring and healing trip to Texas, to meet author and teacher, Michele Longo O'Donnell. Michele is the author of three best-selling books on healing. After reading her books and listening to her wonderful CD's, we were so moved by her uncompromising wisdom that we just had to make a special trip to meet her and her team.

While Michele is not A Course in Miracles teacher or student in "form", she is a living example of exactly what Jesus teaches in the Course. Through her amazing life experience and her unrelenting dedication to opening to receive true Guidance, we believe that she shares the essence of Jesus' teachings in a truly practical way. Michele demonstrates that there is no hierarchy of illusions and that there truly is no order of difficulty in miracles.

Here is a brief introduction and a short quote from her latest best-selling book, When the Wolf is at the Door; The Simplicity of Healing

Michele Longo O'Donnell was diagnosed on a PAP smear with cervical cancer. While taking the biopsy, her gynaecologist kept describing all the signs of malignancy he could already see with the naked eye.

She runs a treatment centre for cancer patients in Texas and while preparing a treatment for a patient she had this vision of a wolf ready to attack her; a shepherd (Jesus) jumped in between them and said to her: "The wolf is at the door, but I am the door!"

That evening she got the call from the hospital saying that the biopsy was totally negative, no sign of malignancy! Her gynaecologist, having read her first book (Of Monkeys and Dragons; Freedom from the Tyranny of Disease) said: "I didn't expect anything less from you."

"Before anything can reach us to manifest against us, we must first acquiesce to the lie that God's creation can be somehow interrupted, maligned. Once we have agreed to that, we have become vulnerable to whatever comes to suggest itself a power other than God. A power greater than and able to overcome and destroy the works of God.

I now see all disease as an interruption in the intact and eternal state of perfection in which we are formed. But since His works are uninterruptible, we must have first surrendered to many such beliefs in order for disease to reach us in the first place. We firstly blindly accepted that we could experience it. Then we had to be made to believe we had no choice. We had to be convinced of our inherent weakness and vulnerability. We had to be made to feel we earned or deserved our fate. Somehow it is all our fault. We had to be made to believe we needed the suffering for a greater good. Many strange and convoluted ideologies were put into a pill for us to swallow...and as a whole human race...we swallowed it all!

Just as the experience of disease began with a thought, a belief, an acceptance of many things untrue, so the healing of it must begin with another thought, another perception which will realistically negate the first. We must once again understand who we are, where we have come from, why we are here and in what condition we have been made. We must reclaim our authority and sense of dominion. We must lose the victim mentality and stand on our feet as the eternal, mighty Sons of God that we are.

A lady recently healed of ovarian cancer made this bold and time arresting statement to me. She said, "My change came when I realized I had a choice!" First we have been lulled into a stupor of resignation to disease as a power greater than God, greater than ourselves. Then we have been taught that we must deal with it on the same level that it appeared...strictly physical.

Healing becomes so simple once we turn from all this madness and choose to look long and hard at the Glory and Light which lies within us. "For of His fullness have we all received. "We find that healing is not something that must happen from outside of ourselves, but instead is an unlocking of something so powerful, so available and so easily released from within each one... no matter who we are or what weird roads we have traveled." For we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the Excellency of the power may be of God and not of ourselves."

Nothing new needs to be added, sought after or discovered. Only released. Only revealed. We don't need a miracle. We only need to find how easily we can allow the intrinsic wholeness, which is the natural state of our existence, to be freed. One paradigm shift of thought, of true understanding, will correct all conditions of confusion and darkness we call dis-ease. Suffering is such an unnecessary human experience. The real tragedy lies in that we so readily accept it."
