“A friend gave this book to me during a difficult period in my life. I was not a seeker or on a particularly spiritual path at the time. For some reason I opened it, I read it from front to back, and found that it struck a chord of truth inside me that had never previously been touched. A Skeptic Surrenders, August 1, 2009
”I needed this book. I got laid off twice in a matter of 6 months, despite being highly qualified for my job. The reason: it was personal. My anxiety issues started spilling over from my personal life into my professional life and my employers chose to sacrifice the skills I brought in exchange for someone with less skills and less drama. For me to survive, especially in a more competitive market, I had to make a change.
What does that have to do with this Take Me To Truth? A lot. This book really helped me to put things in to perspective, to stop thinking that everything was about me, to stop worrying about the future or fretting over past mistakes. Those things I had been doing: the worrying, the over thinking and analyzing - they were the root causes of my anxiety and by stopping that behavior, I was able to solve the problem.
The book goes through the stages of undoing the ego. I was a bit concerned that I would have difficulty grasping the concept but everything was written in a straightforward way. I read the book cover to cover in a few days and have re-read it twice since then and do not find it at all tedious or boring. I think a lot of books in this category are quite dull so that was an unexpected surprise.
I could go on and on about this but I would rather keep it simple: I was skeptical that I would get anything out of Take Me To Truth. I am very pleased to say that the things I learned and experienced after reading it have really improved my outlook and my life. “Definitely the best book on ego psychology for personal development. Hits you straight in the heart (and stomach) with the sense of your feet firmly grounded. This book should have been mandatory for all teens all over the world from high school and up. Also the first book anyone should read as a starter in the spiritual quest. I would also especially recommend this book for Christians looking for insights that will bring Christianity back to spirituality instead of the grossly common materialistic ego based concepts and belief systems of the ego mind dominating today.
